Course Summary

Explore the world of Robert Louis Stevenson through the lens of treasure maps and poetry. This class is bound to bring out the adventure and creativity in your child!

Course Description

Step into the story-filled world of Robert Louis Stevenson as we make our own treasure maps and write simple verses of poetry. Creating a treasure map will encourage students to engage their imaginations and develop a world of their own. Perhaps the making of a treasure map will inspire in your child the desire to write a complete story, just as it did Robert Louis Stevenson with his book Treasure Island many years ago. Students are often surprised that the famed treasure map maker and storyteller was also a poet. We will read a few short poems from Stevenson's book, A Child's Garden of Verses, to inspire students to write a few verses of their own.
