Students will learn to sign through the seven days of creation as depicted in the first and second chapters of the Bible's Genesis.
In this course, students will study the story of creation from a Biblical standpoint and learn to sign the events of each of the seven days. Students will learn some of the basics of ASL communication and storytelling as well as cultural norms. Week 1: Students read through Genesis 1: 1-5 Students learn creation signs for Day 1. Students will draw a picture representing what God created on Day 1. Students will participate in a scavenger hunt in which they race to find something in their house with the number "1" on it. Week 2: Students read through Genesis 1: 6-8 Students learn to sing and sign about the second day's creation. Students draw a picture to represent what God created on Day 2. Students will participate in a scavenger hunt in which they race to find something in their house with the number "2" on it. Week 3: Students read through Genesis 1: 9-13 Students learn to sing and sign about the third day's creation. Students draw a picture to represent what God created on Day 3. Students will participate in a scavenger hunt in which they race to find something in their house with the number "3" on it. Week 4: Students read through Genesis 1: 14-19 Students learn to sing and sign about the fourth day's creation. Students draw a picture to represent what God created on Day 4. Students will participate in a scavenger hunt in which they race to find something in their house with the number "4" on it. Week 5: Students read through Genesis 1: 20-23 Students learn to sing and sign about the fifth day's creation. Students draw a picture to represent what God created on Day 5. Students will participate in a scavenger hunt in which they race to find something in their house with the number "5" on it. Week 6: Students read through Genesis 1: 24-31 Students learn to sing and sign about the sixth day's creation. Students draw a picture to represent what God created on Day 6. Students will participate in a scavenger hunt in which they race to find something in their house with the number "6" on it. Week 7: Students read through Genesis 2: 1-3 Students learn to sing and sign about the seventh day. Students draw a picture representing Day 7. Students will participate in a scavenger hunt in which they race to find something in their house with the number "7" on it.
