Learn how to turn a personal experience into a story that can entertain or educate. In this dynamic class, we will also dive into key public speaking skills.
"Once upon a time..." Are you ever transfixed by someone telling a story and wish that you could tell powerful stories too? The Art of Storytelling is a class for beginners. We will discuss some basics of storytelling: • How to select a story topic from life experience • Storytelling techniques, including using emotion, creating conflict and resolution, identifying the moral of the story, etc. • Delivery Techniques, including body language, speaking skills, etc. Each learner will write a short story (humorous or educational) about an experience they had and find creative ways to present it to the rest of the class using their best public speaking skills. We will discuss the many opportunities that exist for storytelling in our homes and community. Learners will need basic writing skills and the desire to interact with others in class. This is a low-pressure, fun, and educational class that can put your learner on a path to a lifetime of storytelling.
