Course Summary

Learn how Thanksgiving is celebrated in four different countries around the world. Make a craft that represents the holiday in each country.

Course Description

Many countries around the world celebrate Thanksgiving. In this class we will learn about the Thanksgiving traditions of the following four countries: • The United States • The Netherlands • Germany • Japan Each class will feature an engaging visual presentation about a country's Thanksgiving celebration, followed by an arts and crafts project. The hands-on arts and craft projects included in this course include: • Mosaic Turkey • Pilgram Voyage Collage • Decorate a Parade Float • Community Worker Thank You Cards At the end of class, students will have the opportunity to share: • one thing for which they are grateful • their finished project Students should come away from this class with a greater appreciation of the Thanksgiving holiday.

UNITED STATES Project: Mosaic Turkey ✔︎ Supplies: 8" x 12"-piece of cardboard pencil craft glue paint brush for the glue 3 cups mixed beans (pinto, kidney, white, red lentil, green lentil, black, etc.) ★ one copy of printable found in Session Resources on white cardstock (optional). Alternatively, artists may draw their own turkey onto paper.
