This small-group reading class provides the same individualized instruction and skill coverage as one-on-one tutoring at a shared cost. Each learner receives personal reading time, targeted feedback, and engaging practice designed to build a strong foundation in early reading.
This ongoing class offers the benefits of private tutoring in a small-group format, making high-quality reading intervention more affordable for families. Each lesson mirrors the structure and progress of 1:1 instruction; students read aloud, practice specific phonics skills, and receive direct feedback and support. This course is ideal for young readers who already know their letter names and sounds but need help blending sounds and reading words fluently. Every child gets multiple turns to read, answer, and participate, ensuring personalized instruction within a fun and encouraging group setting. Instruction follows a sequential and spiraling model, meaning skills are introduced step by step and continually reviewed for mastery. Skills covered include: Sound blending and segmenting Short vowels and CVC word patterns Common digraphs and blends (sh, ch, st, pr, pl, ck, etc.) Long vowels and silent e (CVCe) High-frequency sight words Reading short sentences and passages with comprehension *Families are encouraged to schedule an optional 1:1 reading assessment before joining to ensure proper placement, individualized help, and personalized pacing.* Learning Goals By the end of this course, students will: Blend and decode CVC and CVCe words with accuracy Recognize and read short and long vowel patterns Identify and use common digraphs and blends Read short passages fluently and with understanding Gain confidence and independence as early readers Learners who have mastered these skills can transition to the Intermediate Reading Intervention class for the next level of growth. ***Families are encouraged to complete an individual reading assessment before starting the class. This helps ensure your child is placed at the correct level and allows instruction to be more personalized from day one.
