Course Summary

Learn how to make four types of puppets, and use the puppets to put on a puppet show.

Course Description

In this four-week project-based class, we will learn how to make the following four types of puppets: 1. Tagboard 2. Sock 3. Marionette 4. Hand On the final day, students will have the opportunity to use all their puppets to present a short puppet show for the rest of the class. Skills used in this class include: ✔︎ fine motor skills (cutting, pasting, sewing, coloring) ✔︎ creativity and imagination (puppet creation) ✔︎ communication skills (puppet show presentation) NOTE: Part One, Part Two, and Part Three of this class can be taken on their own and in any order. By the end of class, students' creativity and imagination will be soaring!

Supplies

WEEK ONE • one sheet tagboard or poster board • scissors • glue sticks • scrap paper • crayons or markers • miscellaneous items like googly eyes, yarn, buttons, etc. WEEK TWO • one or two white socks (large enough to fit a hand) • scissors • craft glue • glue stick • scrap paper • crayons • markers • miscellaneous items like googly eyes, yarn, buttons, etc. WEEK THREE • Ten 1/2"-1" pom poms • 12" sewing thread (threaded through needle with knot tied at the end) • sewing needle • two 8" pieces of string • glue • scissors • two google eyes or 3 small circles cut from paper WEEK FOUR • one sheet construction paper (any color) • scrap colored paper • glue • scissors • crayons or markers • two large google eyes or 3 large circles cut from paper
