Course Description

Public speaking and communication skills boost one's confidence and increase the potential for influence one can have in the world. Skills learned in this six-part course include: • Non-Verbal Communication • Active Listening • The Power of Feedback • Vocal Communication • Speech Types • Research and Organization • Strategies for captivating your audience and executing a powerful delivery • Speech Writing • Speech Deliver and Feedback CLASS REQUIREMENTS ✔︎ Students will need basic writing skills to take notes in class. ✔︎ Basic essay writing skills are needed to write a 3-minute speech (persuasive, informative, or narrative). ✔︎ A willingness to participate in class discussion is essential, as students will be asked to share their ideas and provide feedback. ✔︎ A willingness to present a three-minute speech to fellow students and receive positive and instructive feedback. FUN AND EDUCATIONAL Communication is an art. It can be practiced and refined. Practicing together can be more fun. Though intended to be highly educational, this class will also be laid-back and fun. As such, it may be the perfect option for students who are hesitant to take a public speaking class.
