Learn to convert and compare percents and use them to solve problems.

Course Description

In this course, the student will build a solid foundation for percents. The student will learn how to convert and compare them to decimals and fractions. The student will also find percents of whole numbers and of course learn real-world application for percents. #13 in Mrs. Becker's Intermediate Math Series (Followed by "Fractions, Decimals, and Percents") Mrs. Becker's Intermediate Math Series is designed for math students in approximately 5th through 6th grade. Each class consists of a lesson including visuals and problems to work through together and independently.

Syllabus

1. Define percent. Model percents. Write percents as decimals and fractions (without simplifying). 2. Continue converting percents to decimals and fractions (with simplifying). 3. Convert decimals to percents. 4. Identify common equivalent fractions and percents. 5. Compare percents with fractions and decimals. 6. Find percents of whole numbers. 7. Find what percent one whole number is of another number. 8. Solve word problems with percents.
