Course Description

This Multiplication Facts Camp is all about memorizing multiplication facts to 12s. Many intelligent students have gotten behind in math simply by skipping this important step. When students try to proceed to long multiplication, long division, fractions, and more before having these memorized, they are held back by the lack of memorization of these facts and therefore struggle to focus on the new skills to be learned. From here, they can lose confidence and continue drifting behind. There is good news! Memorizing these facts is more about devoting the time rather than simply having a "knack" for it. Flash cards are incredibly helpful, but varying modes of practice help keep students more engaged and focused. In this camp, we will spend time together learning tricks for different multiplication facts and understand why these tricks work. For some of those facts with no clever tricks, we will use other mnemonics (such as stories about the number characters) to help learn them.

Syllabus

1. Memorize facts for 0's, 1's, 10's, and 5's to 12. 2. Memorize facts for 2's, 4's, and 6's to 12. 3. Memorize facts for 3's and 9's to 12. 4. Memorize facts for 7's and 8's to 12. 5. Memorize facts for 11's and 12's to 12.
