In this once-per-week math camp, students strengthen key skills—multi-digit addition, regrouping subtraction, division as sharing, measurement, and graphing—through guided practice and creative hands-on projects. Each class combines skill-building with a fun “Math Masters” mini challenge, helping learners apply math in meaningful, real-world ways. Perfect for boosting confidence, accuracy, and problem-solving skills in ages 8–11!
Math Masters: Create, Play, and Problem-Solve! (Part 2) is a once-per-week, 5-week course designed to help students strengthen upper-elementary math skills while having fun. Each class begins with a warm-up and guided practice to review the weekly skill—multi-digit addition, regrouping subtraction, early division concepts, measurement, and graphing. Students get clear instruction, supportive coaching, and plenty of chances to build accuracy and confidence. After practicing the skill, students complete a creative “Math Masters Challenge” that brings math to life. They’ll design restaurant menus and total customer orders, crack detective cases using regrouping subtraction, divide party supplies among guests, build mini golf holes to measure and compare distances, and even create a pet store layout using pretend class data. These hands-on projects make math meaningful, engaging, and easy to understand. This course is a great next step after Part 1 or for any learner who thrives with interactive, visual, or real-world math experiences. Every session helps students feel successful, build stronger problem-solving skills, and discover that math can be exciting and enjoyable.
⭐ Week 1 — Mega Addition Builders Skill Focus: Multi-digit addition (2–3 digits) Mini Project: Menu Maker Math Students design a simple restaurant menu and add up customer “orders.” This real-world activity makes multi-digit addition meaningful, visual, and fun. ⭐ Week 2 — Regrouping Subtraction Skill Focus: Subtraction with borrowing/regrouping Mini Project: Lost & Found Detective Case Students solve regrouping subtraction “clues” to uncover pieces of a friendly mystery. Each correct answer unlocks another part of the final solution! ⭐ Week 3 — Division Basics: Fair Share Fun! Skill Focus: Division as sharing and equal groups Mini Project: Party Planner Fair Share Challenge Students help plan a pretend party by dividing snacks, supplies, or favors fairly among guests. A gentle, practical introduction to division concepts. ⭐ Week 4 — Measurement Mayhem! Skill Focus: Measuring length, comparing, and estimation Mini Project: Build-a-Mini Golf Course Students design a simple mini golf hole on paper (or with small objects). They estimate the length of their course, measure it, compare the two, and adjust obstacles. A playful blend of engineering and hands-on measurement practice. ⭐ Week 5 — Data Detectives: Pet Paradise Challenge Skill Focus: Bar graphs, data interpretation, real-world decision-making Mini Project: Design a Pet Store Using Pretend Data Students will graph a fun set of pretend pet preference data (dogs, cats, fish, birds, turtles). Then they use their graph to design a pet store layout based on popularity. A visual, creative way to show how data guides decisions.
