Learn long multiplication of whole numbers, up to 3-digit numbers by 2-digit numbers.

Course Description

In this course, the student will work with models and eventually shift to paper and pencil only, to learn long multiplication of whole numbers, up to 3-digit x 2-digit problems. #2 in Mrs. Becker's Intermediate Math Series (Followed by "Long Division") Mrs. Becker's Intermediate Math Series is designed for math students in approximately 5th through 6th grade. Each class consists of a lesson including visuals and problems to work through together and independently.

Syllabus

1. Define multiplication terms (factor and product). Multiply 2-digit x 1-digit numbers. 2. Multiply 2-digit x 2-digit numbers (with models). 3. Multiply 2-digit x 2-digit numbers (moving away from models). 4. Multiply 3-digit x 2-digit numbers (without models).

Paper and pencil OR whiteboard and dry-erase marker Optional: base ten blocks (rods and units/ones), graph paper, and colored pencils
