Course Description

✨Let's Create a Storybook! is a four-week, bookmaking course where we will make a storybook using animal characters. Using a step-by-step process, students will: ✶ Learn how to make hand-made books ✶ Create a storyline and engaging animal characters ✶ Learn about composition and layout ✶ Create a storyboard ✶ Create illustrations for the storybook ✶ Upon completion of our storybooks, we will have Show and Tell ✨By the end of class, students will have exercised their creativity and imagination to create their very own animal storybook, plus they will have the skills to create more books in the future. ✨This class is perfect for those who have imaginations that run wild, as well as those who could use a little encouragement in the imagination department.

✨Week One • six sheets of 8x11-inch computer paper • one 8x11-inch sheet colored construction paper OR one piece of 8x11-inch computer paper (for practice book cover) • pencil with eraser • stapler • black sharpie or dark marker ✨Week Two • the practice book made during week one • pencil with eraser ✨Week Three •Print four copies of the storyboard printable found in the resource section • the practice book made during week one • pencil with eraser • 8-10 sheets of 8x11-inch computer paper (If using paint or watercolor for final illustrations, use mixed media paper instead of computer paper) • one 8x11 sheet colored construction paper OR one piece of 8x11-inch computer paper/mixed media paper (for book cover) • stapler • glue stick • 9x2-inch patterned paper for book binding ✨Week Four • Practice book and storybook • completed storyboard • pencil with eraser • preferred art supplies for illustrations (pen, markers, colored pencils, watercolor, etc.) • permanent pen for writing story in book OR pre-typed story to be cut out and glued in book • glue stick (if using typed story)
