This class features the fascinating history behind the original mural artwork of the Salt Lake Temple. During the recent renovation of the Salt Lake Temple, all remaining fragments of the original murals were removed. The upcoming 2027 Salt Lake Temple open house and rededication will provide an opportunity for individuals worldwide to view for themselves the magnificence of this stunning edifice, built by pioneers over the course of four decades. While the original murals will no longer be visible, the remarkable story of the murals, and the gifted individuals who created them, need not be lost. ✨This single, one-hour long class will include: • Details about the Salt Lake Temple • The life and art of American Artist John B. Fairbanks • The life and art of fellow American Artists John Hafen, Edwin Evans, Lorus Pratt, Herman Haag • The life and art of John B. Fairbanks artistic sons, American Artist and Sculptor Avard Fairbanks and his brother, Artist J.Leo Fairbanks ✨Goals for this class include: • Learn the fascinating story of the original mural artwork of the Salt Lake Temple • Be inspired by the stories and histories of honorable individuals • Create in each student a desire to strive to be an instrument in God’s hands for doing good by improving upon the talents which God has given them • Develop an increased desire to create beauty in the world for all to enjoy ★ Class will include a colored pencil art project, which can be showcased to other students at the end of class. Prepare to be amazed by the artwork and stories of devotion and sacrifice of these lesser known but profoundly influential American artists.
