Drawing English Vocabulary: The Fun Way To Learn New Words

Course Summary

Learn vocabulary by drawing pictures that connect in some way with the words. This fun class will have students drawing ridiculous pictures for the purpose of growing their vocabulary.

Course Description

This Open-Series class will call on the creative side of students to use their imaginations. We will draw ridiculous pictures that will help students recall vocabulary words for years to come. Each week we will learn a different set of words. Students may join as many classes as they'd like to help increase their vocabulary. ✨ Examples of words that may be used in class include: • assuage • asunder • capacious • embellish • voracious ✨ In each class: • a vocabulary word will be introduced • the definition of the word will be read • students will write the word and short definition in their notebook • together we will think of rhyming words, or a personal memory associated with the word, that will make the new vocabulary word easier to recollect • students will draw a simple picture in their notebook that reminds them of the word and its definition ✔︎ At the end of each class, students will have the opportunity to share their pictures. We will learn as many vocabulary words as time permits. This class is so much fun, students may forget that they're actually learning. ✏️ Skills needed for this class include basic writing and drawing skills.
