Course Description

In this class students will learn the basics of ASL storytelling. Students will learn to sign an ABC story, "Jesus Walks on Water," created by Deaf Missions. The theme of this class will be faith and over the course of our time together, we will talk about what it means to have faith. We will define faith as believing in the unseen as is described in Hebrews 11:1. During the first class, we will read the story of when Jesus walked on water and invited Peter to do the same and learn how much faith affects our ability to walk with Jesus. Over the rest of the classes, we will read through the entire chapter of Hebrews 11. We will read and have small conversations about several other Bible characters that were called to have faith such as Abraham, Enoch, Abel, Noah, and more. Other verses that will be referenced throughout the class include Mark 9:23, Ephesians 2:8-9, Matthew 17:20, Galatians 3:7-8, and 2nd Corinthians 5:7. At the end of each class session, we will play a Kahoot game to help us remember what we learned about during that day. By the end of this course, students will be able to do the following: - Fingerspell the entire manual alphabet - Sign the ABC story, "Jesus Walks on Water" - Talk about what it means to have faith - Name various Biblical characters who were faithful during their time on earth If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.
