About Me

Mama, can we play school?" was a frequent question I asked as a toddler when I was too young to go into an actual classroom. I loved learning as much as I could about anything and everything. When I was a little older, I played teacher by creating assignments for my imaginary students which I subsequently graded and sprinkled with encouraging comments. I began teaching formally in my junior year of college, and I've been teaching in one form or another ever since, mostly in science, but also in the arts. Along the way, I've learned that I am a natural teacher with an ability to simplify concepts and to organize information into a manner that is easy for others to understand. One of the greatest pleasures of teaching is seeing the look on a student's face when they realize they understand something for the first time. My mission is to create a scientifically literate world where the ability to learn and understand science is open to everyone and anyone. I have recently completed my first science fiction novel which I am currently editing before searching for a publisher. I am an avid runner, having completed 36 marathons and counting as well as numerous shorter races. I also practice yoga regularly, and I enjoy traveling both nationally and internationally.
